Holy moly.

What an incredible way to kick off the be{you}tiful project.

With this loving soul.

It just pours out of her.

Erica recently battled breast cancer. And boy did she battle. She went through a mastectomy, chemo, radiation, pokes and endless prods. Something I LOVE about Erica, is how proudly she refuses to wear her uncomfortable prosthesis. Something else I LOVE about Erica is how she chooses to stand up to society’s standards of beauty. She’s proving that a unique and courageous body is nothing to be ashamed of but something to be honored. Her entire outlook on life has changed since her fight. She could care less about spending energy and time hating her body’s signs of aging. Quite the contrary, she feels honored to experience her wrinkles!

She was an absolute blast to photograph. She was relaxed, genuine and beautiful.

A soul like Erica’s has this ability to reach right through the camera, grab my heart and make magic. SO grateful to have met and photographed such an amazing woman with such a loving outlook on life and community.

Beautiful, stunning photography of my beautifully stunning sister-friend Erica. I have tears of joy just looking at her luminosity you captured so exquisitely Dana. Great post too.

Erica, this is how I see you. Along with many others. I’m so happy you get to see yourself this way now too. You, my dear friend, are a BEAUTIFUL soul.

Nobody looks this good if the insides don’t match the outsides.

    Brava ladies! Brava!

    Dear Dana,
All I can say is Wow! This brought tears to my eyes. I’m so glad you connected so deeply during this experience. I just knew Erica would be a great candidate. You captured her beauty and spirit and style. I love the shots in the hanging laundry and her rare courage to bare her scar. Excellent beautiful work. Thank you so much for the important work you do to remind women how beautiful they are, inside and out!
    Bless you!

Dearest Dana, in making your generous contribution of your creativity and talents in your be{you}tiful project, you give a profound gift not only to those lovely subjects you photograph such as Erica but also to the entire community of those who see your work. Time and again your blogs speak to the joy and wonder you experience when you connect with your subjects during a shoot. You write about your discovery of what playful and beautiful souls they possess. Well, speaking here as someone who has had the very good fortune of having been shot by you a few times, I want to say on behalf of all of us, “right back at ya, girl!” What a miracle you are. We couldn’t love or thank you more, Dana.ReplyCancel

    This is beautiful Dana!

Erica, you are a gorgeous, courageous and strong woman! You are absolutely stunning in these images!

When I saw the first image on Dana’s FB page (laying down w/black lace), I was like “OMG, is that Jamie Lee Curtis?!”
